Generate Traffic

So, you’re looking to generate traffic to get more people to your blog, your offer or your optin page.

Traffic is the lifeblood of your business. And without enough people viewing your offers or opting in to your list, your business isn’t growing. It’s dying.

You may have heard that there are 2 types of traffic. Free and Paid.

But, I must disagree with that notion.

I believe that all traffic to your website, sales page, promotion, etc. is paid.

  • Some you pay for with money.
  • Some you pay for with time.

Let’s look at the numbers for “Free Traffic” first.

We start by analyzing our business and our commitment to building it. I’ll be using round numbers to make the calculations easier.

  • Profit Goal = $3,000 per month
  • Number of Hours to Work on Business = 30 Hours per week = 120 Hours per month

Dividing your money goal by the number of hours gives us how much we value our time at.

  • $3,000 / 120 hrs/mo = $25/hr.

In this case, our time is valued at $25/hr.

This number can be used to determine what makes sense to be paying for in your business. Whether it is outsourcing, generating traffic, hiring an assistant, etc.

Let’s assume for a minute that by spending 4 hours surfing and generating clicks on a traffic exchange over the course of 4 days gets you 10 leads into your business. The leads opted in to your lead magnet, but didn’t buy anything (yet). At $25/hr, you just spent $100 of your time to generate 10 leads.

That’s $10 per lead.

Compare this to using solo ads to generate leads.

You purchase 200 clicks for $100. ($0.50 per click)

You get 25% optin rate, so you got 50 leads into your business.

That’s only $2 per lead.

So, which would you rather pay? $10 per lead or $2 per lead?

Of course, who wouldn’t prefer to pay $2 per lead?

This goes to show that if you’ve got the money, you can generate a lot traffic very quickly with paid ads and solo ads. And that’s why a lot of successful marketers use paid ads and solo ads.

But if you don’t, then you need to default back to the traffic methods that you pay for with your time. At least until your business generates enough profit so that you can buy traffic.

Most likely, if you’re just starting out, you’ll be forced to generate traffic with free options.
